Abstract

Microincisional cataract surgery is a minimal invasive technique and has shown improvement in woundconstruction and healing, stability of the globe during phacoemulsification and irrigation/aspiration techniques, capability to avoid the surge and also to decrease the amount of total irrigation inside the eye in comparison to standard phacoemulsification technology. The advantages of micro-incisional cataract surgery are enhanced when the instruments become smaller. The preoperative evaluation starts by examining the anterior segment. The quality of the red fundus reflex and posterior pole must be critically assessed. In children cataracts are more often attributable to a specific cause than in adults, being one of the most frequent identifiable the autosomal dominant familial transmission Trauma, both blunt and penetrating, is also an important cause of cataract in childhood. The indications for surgery in cases of pediatric cataract may experience some variations according the experience of some physicians. The micro-biaxial technique starts with anesthesia. For treating smaller eye, smaller incision is made. Anterior capsule management, posterior capsule management, microbiaxial anterior vitrectomyare performed in pediatric cataract. Microbiaxial technique (or microphakonit as was named by Prof Amar Agarwal, its creator), has represented in the last three years a nice improvement in the management of cataracts in the adult, and may be some of its main advantages can be used to solve some of the technical troubles that we frequently find in the pediatric cataract.
