Growth is an anatomic phenomenon but development is physiologic and behavioural. The chapter on emotional growth gives a descriptive account of the various theories of emotional development of an individual. Psychological aspects of malocclusion and the effect of orthodontic treatment on such patients are discussed. The applied psychology pertaining to orthodontics is the highlight of the chapter.
