In a typical reverse fashion, head bigger- body smaller child grows and matures into a head smaller body larger adult. How? This kind of differential and proportional growth is attributed to cephalocaudal growth gradient and pattern of growth. The chapter deals with growth, development, pattern, variability and proportionality. Shrinking of thymus is also growth in reverse at this signals that the individual is in the process of maturation. When such variability is expected how could growth be “quantified” or “measurable”? Facial bones have the extra burden of attaching muscles for esthetics, movement, expression and age. Enlow’s concepts have been well discussed in this chapter.
