Abstract

MR-PET imaging integrates the MRI machine with the PET scanner. The MRI-PET scanner operates by first obtaining the MRI images of the organ or a region, next the machine slides into the integrated PET scanner. MRI scan provides structural details and provides high soft tissue resolution images, while the PET scanner gives us the functional details from the radiotracer in body. The input of the PET scanner is then computed into the MRI images, so that an accurate functioning of the particular organ is obtained. MR-PET has significant advantages over PET-CT when it comes to soft tissue resolution and patients are not exposed to radiation.
