Abstract

Infections of the central nervous system (CNS) still constitute as one of the major neurosurgical problems worldwide. With increasing early detection and newer antibiotics, associated high mortality has been dramatically reduced. Cranial bacterial infections may present as bacterial meningitis, brain or epidural abscess, subdural empyema and osteomyelitis of skull. They are discussed in this chapter.
