Early institution of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) was very successful in ameliorating RDS in neonates born less than 32 weeks, reduced the need for mechanical ventilation and surfactant therapy by 71.6%, with minimum associated complication and lower incidence of bronchopulmonary dysplasia.
