Guide to Interpreting Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography

by Bruno Lumbroso, Marco Rispoli

The book “Guide to Interpreting Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography” mainly helps optical coherence tomography (OCT) users in interpreting images, which are very complex and bewildering. This book explains a logical method for analyzing OCT images. It is divided into two parts: introduction and clinical reference cases. Introduction part of the book explains about the overview, general principles of OCT, spectral domain OCT and cross-sectional OCT. Image interpretation is of two phases. First phase divides each image into its smallest components where as second phase combines these fine details to arrive at a synthesis. These analyses help to give an accurate diagnosis and to decide an appropriate therapy. Schematic illustrations and actual scans are explained in detail. This book provides a step-by-step guide for images analysis which are acquired by spectral domain OCT. It also explains the information on technical as well as clinical possibilities in the study of glaucoma on three-dimensional images. Readers of this book are able to understand the logical interpretations of OCT scan and manage difficult tasks of sifting through the mass of data to extract useful information. Second part explains about macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal epitheliopathy, cysticercosis, Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada syndrome and vascular occlusion of the retina.
