Textbook of Biochemistry for Dental Students

This book contains the essentials of basic biochemistry applied to dental students. The first edition of the book was published in 2007, and is now running the 2nd edition. The book is now accepted as a standard textbook in all the dental colleges in India. Much emphasis has been given on clinical aspect of biochemistry, and the book is written aiming the students who are going to become practicing physicians. For example, chapter 8 gives a detailed account of the salivary secretions, plaque formation and development of caries. Other clinical chapters include metabolic alterations in Diabetes Mellitus; the relationship of cholesterol and lipoproteins with myocardial infarction; investigations done to identify liver diseases; the alterations of parameters during kidney disease as well as the alterations in acid base balance and the life threatening conditions leading to changes in blood pH.
