With the changing demographic profile and an increasing number of aging population, Asia will have disproportionately large number of persons with glaucoma, mostly with angle-closure disease. Bilateral blindness is projected in 11 millions of those with glaucoma and effective opportunistic screening, early detection and appropriate treatment measures will remain the key-to-combat glaucoma blindness.
