The book “Dermoscopy and Trichoscopy in Diseases of the Brown Skin” help propagating the noninvasive technique of dermoscopy in a small way. This book stimulates interest in dermoscopy of the spectrum of pigmentary and inflammatory skin diseases observed in the brown skin and in trichoscopy. The book begins with the principles, techniques and applications of dermoscopy instrument and also contains the pros and cons of various available dermoscopy equipments. A separate section is devoted to hyperpigmentation disorders like melasma, exogeneous ochronosis, Schamberg’s disease, Becker’s nevus, cafe-au-lait spot, lichen planus pigmentosus and ashy dermatosis. It also explains various hypopigmentation problems like vitiligo, leprosy and idiopathic guttate hypomelanosis and inflammatory skin diseases like lichen planus, psoriasis, eczema, pityriasis rubra pilaris and many others. There is a section on trichoscopy and its variations including phototrichogram, trichoscan, folliscopy and hair analysis. The last section gives miscellaneous applications of dermoscopy in diagnosis of keratosis pilaris, genodermatoses, porokeratosis and diabetic dermopathy.
