Abstract

Post-acne scarring is one of the most feared and really long-lasting complications of inflammatory acne. The earlier chapters have dealt with surgical methods of treating acne scarring. This chapter deals with the use of lasers in management of acne scarring. Lasers have found a permanent place in the treatment of facial acne scars. Among the nonsurgical modalities, they are perhaps the most efficacious in causing scar amelioration. Among the different lasers available for this indication, fractional lasers are the ones that are the most favored as of now. However, before using any of these lasers, it is imperative to know the right laser and the right parameters for an individual patient. Using the wrong setting or the incorrect laser can harm and even disfigure the patient.
