Abstract

Several aspects of hair transplantation have attracted attention in recent years and efforts have been made for their improvement. These include: efforts to minimize donor scarring, efforts to increase the number of grafts transplanted in one session, efforts to preserve grafts better, Efforts to find alternate source of donor hairs, Efforts at automation and Transplantation in difficult areas and difficult situations. Many of these aspects have already been dealt with in previous chapter on hair transplantation. This chapter will discuss follicular unit extraction (FUE), body hair transplantation (BHT) and transplantation in difficult situations. The field of hair transplantation has seen several important advancements. FUE technique is an important advance which caters to specific needs of selected patients. Body hair offers an alternative source, but should be undertaken only after proper counseling and in selected patients. In skilled hands, areas such as moustache, eyebrows can be transplanted with gratifying results.
