Abstract

Most of the procedures and surgical techniques pertaining to dermatology practice are learnt through observation, assistance and finally hands on training. After repeating the same procedures, over a period of time, one gets well acquainted to these procedures. Further excellence and mastery is achieved by practice and knowledge and improvisations or modifications. These modifications, tips and improvisations are called as pearls and gems. These help to perform the procedure in a shorter duration, make the procedure easier, avoid complications and assure a better outcome. Pearls in procedural dermatology can be applied at all the stages of a procedure, right from the preparation of operative site to the postoperative care. Few of them useful in day to day procedures are discussed in this chapter. This will help to improvise the dexterity, and boost one’s confidence in the subsequent procedures.
