This chapter outlines historical background of TMJ joint disorders, pathophysiology of TMJ disorders, and clinical characteristics of myofascial pain dysfunction syndrome. The authors have described in detail, history taking and clinical examination of the patient. The chapter describes the objectives of treatment of myofascial pain dysfunction syndrome, taking into consideration the various treatment modalities. The chapter describes technique for auriculotemporal nerve block, describes physiotherapeutic modalities, stress management, occlusal splints, TM Joint arthrocentesis, and TM Joint arthroscopy. Lastly, the chapter also describes the surgical management of myofascial pain dysfunction syndrome.
