The book Modern Medical Toxicology discusses on medical aspects of toxicology and the toxicity of some important drugs along with their pharmacotherapeutic uses, toxicokinetics, diagnosis, management and forensic issues. It also covers the practical guidelines in the treatment of poisoning. The book is divided into twelve sections which include general principles, corrosive (caustic) poisons, chemical poisons, organic poisons, neurotoxic poisons, cardiovascular poisons, asphyxiant poisons, hydrocarbons and pesticides, miscellaneous drugs and poisons, food poisons, substance abuse, and analytical toxicology. The goal of modern medical toxicology (MMT) is to provide useful clinical information on poisons and poisoning to emergency room (ER) physicians, medical students, interns, residents, nurses, pharmacists, and other health care professionals in a concise, complete, and accurate manner. This book mainly concentrates on important fundamental information on commonly encountered poisons and how they are misused.
