Endovascular neurosurgery is often referred to as the future of neurosurgery. Endovascular neurosurgery is a rapidly evolving field and its impact and importance will expand as technology improves, and research discovers vascular origins of disease pathogenesis. Currently, endovascular neurosurgical interventions are used to treat various categories of vascular disease, including stroke, atherosclerosis, intracranial aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), tumors, and some centers of multiple sclerosis (MS). Image intensifiers, neurosimulators and robotics are also being developed to improve patient safety and outcomes. As the endovascular armamentarium continues to evolve, also help to treat the increasing number of conditions affecting the central nervous system with improved accuracy and outcomes.
