The chapter discusses about various tools used for endovascular treatments. The liquid embolic agents are used for the embolization of arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). Onyx HD500 is one commonly used embolic agents. Cyanoacrylates are still frequently used for cerebral vascular malformation embolization. Ethyl alcohol is being used as a liquid embolic in peripheral interventional radiology procedures to treat pathologies and a variety of highly vascular tumors of the liver and kidney. Some of the embolic agents such as horsehair, silk sutures, gelfoam, microfibrillar collagen material, polyvinyl alcohol and embolization microspheres have been used for years to treat a variety of pathologies, including AVMs, tumors and other sources of bleeding throughout the body. The chapter also discusses about the selection of the catheter, detachable coils (its stiffness, shape, sizes, durability, and detachment mechanism), hydrocoil embolic system, polyglycolic polylactic coils, pushable or injectable coils, various types of stents, pipeline embolization device, non-detachable hypercompliant balloons, retrieval devices, and closure devices.
