Abstract

Conjunctival tumors represent a large group of neoplasms that may be divided into congenital, acquired, benign and malignant lesions. The diagnosis of conjunctival tumors and corneal neoplasms include a thorough ophthalmic examination using slit-lamp biomicroscopy, gonioscopy, dilated funduscopy and high-frequency ultrasound. This chapter discusses on the conjunctival malignancies with its clinical features, diagnostic features and management. It is divided into seven sections namely: section 1—premalignant and malignant tumors of epithelium, section 2—melanocytic tumors of conjunctival epithelium, section 3—lymphoproliferative conjunctival lesions, section 4—other lymphoid, leukemic and histiocytic conjunctival lesions, section 5—secondary and metastatic lesions, section 6—adnexal lesions and section 7—management of conjunctival tumors. The surgical treatment of conjunctival tumors includes excision of conjunctival tumors without or with corneoscleral involvement and map biopsy technique. The nonsurgical treatment of conjunctival tumors includes topical chemotherapy and radiation treatment. A thorough understanding of anatomy is required to appropriately manage conjunctival lesions.
