This book is based on Critical Care in Dermatology. Dermatological emergencies contribute to an increased mortality. In this book, procedure to approach a person with dermatological emergency and managing the entire process is given. Different conditions like erythroderma, psoriasis, adverse drug reactions may lead to dermatological emergencies. Body fluid loss and the procedure of fluid restoration by electrolyte and nutritional therapy are important. Diagnostic procedures in dermatological emergencies also include sample collection in critical care and the role of nurse is important. Setting up of a dermatology intensive care unit (DICU) includes patient admission criteria, management of drugs to treat dermatological emergencies with various strategies. Rescue therapy refers to the nonsurgical medical treatment in life-threatening situations. This therapy is useful in acute and chronic skin conditions. The detailed drug therapy helps in the management of patients with hepatic and renal failure. Drug categorization during pregnancy and the drug prescribed in lactating women should be done according to the latest recommendations.
