Although many techniques of mammoplasty have been developed, none has solved satisfactorily the problem of excesses in the medial and lateral part of the breast as well as the overall reduction of breast tissue when a large amount of fat is present. The excessive protrusion of the tail of Spence in the axilla is also a difficult area. Although some skin retraction can occur with liposuction, the patient should be warned about the inability to remove the dog ears by liposuction in addition to the occurrence of irregular depressions in the lateral wall of the breast. Liposuction of the breasts is a satisfactory adjuvant in the breast reduction technique.
