Abstract

This chapter aims to evaluate of the right ventricle. The assessment of the right ventricle (RV) is valuable in many patients with heart disease. In patients with either RV volume overload (e.g. Repaired tetralogy of Fallot [TOF], atrial septal defect [ASD], anomalous pulmonary venous return, tricuspid regurgitation [TR] from any cause) or RV pressure overload (e.g. Pulmonary hypertension from any cause, pulmonary stenosis), management decisions increasingly rely on evaluation of the RV size and function. Their trends during serial follow-up examinations predict heart failure, arrhythmias, and death and must be reliable. 16 self-explanatory and comprehensive images are included in this chapter. 61 references are given at the end of the chapter to facilitate further reading.
