Abstract

This chapter describes detail description of squatting stress echocardiography including advantages and disadvantages. Stress echocardiography (SE) has an established utility for the detection of significant coronary artery disease (CAD) with a notable accuracy of 80-90%, which is superior to that of exercise electrocardiographic testing and comparable to that of nuclear stress imaging. Squatting SE has been identified as an inexpensive, simple, and rapid noninvasive CAD risk assessment modality with fewer complications than current stress imaging techniques. There are a table in this chapter which are very well explained for studies with heart rate and blood pressure response to squatting versus Dobutamine. This chapter covers important topic like squatting echocardiography protocol, squatting echocardiography, mechanism of squatting-induced WMA, Each topic is described with color images. Three self-explanatory and comprehensive images are included in this chapter. Twelve references are given at the end of the chapter to facilitate further reading.
