Intravitreal Injections

by Lalit Verma, Shalabh Sinha

Intravitreal injections have been proven a promising technique in curing retinal diseases. These are used in treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration, retinopathy of prematurity, retinal vein occlusions, retinal detachments, neovascular glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and intraocular tumours. The application allows not only bypassing of the obstacles to permeation of drugs but also remarkably decreases dose requirement which in-turn, affects the decrease in all the side effects of drug given systemically in advanced dose. This book addresses technique of injections, intraocular agents used in injection, newer drugs, complications and endorsements. The onset of enzymatic vitreolysis is an effort to do away the vitreous surgery and make retinal surgery simpler.
