Abstract

Transplant patients are susceptible to a wide spectrum of both local and systemic infectious complications. Opportunistic infections usually occur during the second to the sixth months after transplantation, when immunosuppression levels are high. Chronic immunosuppression is associated with an increased risk of a wide spectrum of neoplasia. Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorders are frequent, affect multiple organs and systems, and present in a variety of ways. Imaging assessment is crucial in the diagnosis and follow-up of these neoplasias. Lymphoproliferative processes usually have a predilection for extranodal sites in immunosuppressed patients.
