Abstract

Cholinergic tachycardia is type of tachycardia mediated by acetylcholine resulting from spatially variable parasympathetic enhancement of the acetylcholine-dependent activation of a cardiac potassium channel leads to atrial fibrillation. Vagal atrial fibrillation considered for the parasympathetic system influences over pacemaker activity, atrioventricular conduction, action potential duration and contractile force, results of SAN and AVN. Most vagal AF occurs in patients without structural heart disease. Digoxin and Class I antiarrhythmic drugs with vagolytic effects and flecainide, quinidine and disopyramide are theoretically effective in treating vagal AF. Other forms of cholinergic arrhythmia are non-sustained ventricular tachycardia, cholinergic syndrome and supraventricular tachycardia.
