Abstract

The chapter briefly summarizes on Trans Fat and cardiovascular disease. Trans fat is the common name for unsaturated fat with transisomer fatty acids. Trans fats are created through a process of partial hydrogenation. Chapter mentions about different sources of Trans fats. The chapter explains that established trans fats are bad for patients with cardiovascular health. Doctors recommend eating not to consume trans fat at all or minimum quantity in their diet. Chapter also highlights that product must be checked for zero grams of trans fat because this does not necessarily mean that the product has no trans fat. Creating awareness and educating yourself about trans fats and their negative effect on heart health is an important step in maintaining the health of individual and others in the society.
