Abstract

This chapter discusses about the common and uncommon conditions, emergencies, and syndromes in ophthalmology. Acute otitis media is caused due to congested and bulging ear drum, and should be treated as one of the most common emergencies in a child. Antrochoanal polyp is seen from the maxillary sinus towards the nasopharynx, and its removal should be done by sinus endoscopy. When the nasal septum is dislocated to the left anteriorly then it is required to avoid using instruments to examine and elevate the tip of nose with thumb. Hemangioma is shown at the tip of the nose and floor of mouth, and it is managed by applying local injections of bleomycin at weekly intervals. Blood clots from the ear canal is caused due to usage of buds, pin, pencil, where dry cotton is generally used to stop the bleed.
