This handbook of endocrine protocols provides biochemistry reference ranges which are collected from Department of Clinical Biochemistry, Christian Medical College, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India. Endocrinology is a field that covers a vast expanse in the mountains of medical science, it ranges from obesity and diabetes to thyroid disease, pituitary and adrenal disorders, bone health, reproductive disorders and sexual health, growth, lipid anomalies and menopausal symptoms. Thereby, at any given point of time in life, 80% of the population on the planet, could very well experience an endocrine disorder. With this in mind, it is important for the practitioner to understand and apply the right tests to the right situation. The protocols present here, helps endocrinologist to use it as ready reckoner for the reference ranges; however these are not to be extrapolated for pediatric patients.
