Dermatology: Psoriasis

by Neena Khanna, AS Kumar

Psoriasis is a chronic proliferative dermatosis with reported incidence varying from 1.5 to 5% in different countries, making it one of the commonest diseases managed by dermatologists. Its importance also stems from the fact that it hugely impacts the patient’s quality of life. This book consists of 11 chapters. The contents cover a wide range of aspects of psoriasis. This book discusses psoriasis in children who account for about a quarter of the patients with psoriasis. The title also focuses on how through patient-based medicine techniques patients can take over a part of the responsibility for their own health and become the center of the therapeutic process. The other aspects covered include metabolic associations of psoriasis, the conventional and biological therapies used, and nails and hair involvement in psoriasis.
