Abstract

The objective of this chapter is to introduce an aortic aneurysm. An aortic aneurysm is defined as a focal dilation or ballooning of part of the aorta more than two times the normal size. Aneurysm of the thoracic and abdominal aorta is an increasingly recognized condition. Etiology and pathogenesis of an aortic aneurysm, thoracic aortic aneurysm, clinical manifestations, diagnosis of thoracic aortic aneurysms, management of thoracic aortic aneurysm, abdominal aortic aneurysms, clinical features of abdominal aortic aneurysms, diagnosis of AAA, management of AAA and genomics, proteomics and cellular therapy in aortic aneurysms are discussed in this chapter.
