Abstract

This chapter discusses the use of multilayer flow modulator in the endovascular treatment of thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm and aortic dissection. The concept of multilayer flow modulator (MFM) may be a solution in the treatment of both complicated and standard aneurysms as it is safe and effective, and has low morbidity and mortality and a relatively low cost compared with other therapeutical options. The concept of this technology is to modulate and laminate the flow in order to eliminate the recirculating vortex in the aneurysm while preserving the patency of the branches. In this chapter, five cases are described. The MFM offers a physiological modulation of an aneurysm with off the shelf availability, signifying a totally different mechanism by remodulating the blood flow.
