Abstract

This chapter discusses percutaneous repair of severe mitral regurgitation using the Mitraclip system. The MitraClip is the first-in-class percutaneous therapy for severe mitral regurgitation (MR). It is a transcatheter technology emulating the double-orifice surgical techniques to MR repair pioneered. This chapter reviews the basic procedural steps of the procedure. Procedural steps are room set-up, transseptal puncture, guide positioning, steering and positioning of the Mitraclip CDS, grasping the leaflets, Mitraclip device deployment and system removal briefly discussed in this chapter.
