The book titled “Emergency Medicine” includes fundamental information on diagnosis and management of acute and sub-acute emergencies. The book is divided into 16 chapters. The book begins with an introduction and a chapter on resuscitation emergencies. Neurological emergencies associated with acute stroke, thrombosis of cerebral veins, anterior spinal artery thrombosis, hypothermia and few others are described. The chapter by name metabolic, renal and endocrine described about the different diseases such as acute kidney injury, adult polycystic kidney disease, nephrotic syndrome, diabetic foot, etc. Followed by discussion on emergencies relating to specific systems of the body including musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and gastrointestinal systems are discussed in detail. Gastrointestinal emergencies illustrates about different emergencies such as acute upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage, variceal bleeding, lower gastrointestinal bleeding, etc. Primary biliary cirrhosis entails the detailed information about hemochromatosis and wilson’s disease. Further chapters enclose various emergencies involving autoimmune hepatitis, blood, carcinoma of bronchus, obstructive sleep apnoea and toxicology, amongst others. This revised book also contains several new topics such as emergency dermatology, vertigo, Horner's syndrome, ptosis and Meniere's disease.
