Cardiovascular (CVS) examination is essentially an examination of the patient’s heart; however it is a complex examination which also includes examination of other parts of the body including the hands, face and neck. The major elements of the CVS examination include observation, palpation and most importantly auscultation. This book “Essentials of Cardiovascular Examination” is divided into four sections; section A, B, C and D, and comprises of total 53 chapters. The purpose of this book is to provide both undergraduate and postgraduate students, interns and practicing physicians a solid background in cardiac physical examination. This book is a humble effort to correct the pitfalls and mistakes that a student commonly makes in examination. Basic cardiovascular anatomy and physiology are dealt with and correlated with normal and abnormal physical findings elicited at the bedside. The physical diagnosis is extensively dealt with so as to enable a student for in-depth study and to approach the examination with ease. All the common cardiovascular diseases and their investigation and treatment updates are also included so as to enable the use of this book as a ready-reckoner reference for practicing physicians.
