The book “Manual of Practical Medical Biochemistry” is written in a simple language mainly focusing on clinical aspects of Practical Biochemistry. Tests for qualitative analysis of carbohydrates, proteins, non-protein nitrogenous substances, lipids, milk, gastric juice, bile, hemoglobin, urine and abnormal chemical constituents of urine are clearly explained. The chapter on “Quantitative analysis” describes different estimation methods of blood glucose, creatinine in serum, serum total proteins, uric acid in serum, bilirubin, urine and fluid protein. Topic on spotters covers details about instruments, microscopic slides, identification of electrophoretogram, structures, tests, nutrition, kwashiorkor and metabolic pathways. Centrifuge, Flame Photometer, pH Meter and colorimeter are important instruments, which are being used in the biochemical analysis. Clinical case exercises for deficiency disorders, inherited disorders, metabolic disorders, hemolytic jaundice and diabetes mellitus are discussed. Objective structured practical examination, procedures for paper chromatography, paper electrophoresis and glucose tolerance test, preparation of reagents for various tests and normal values are also included in this book.
