Nerve block is an important mode of anesthesia involving injection of anesthetic agent directly to the nerve or in its vicinity, and has several advantages. These blocks can be useful in procedures like full face dermabrasion, botulinum toxin injections to palms and soles, vitiligo surgery, nail surgery, hair transplantation, and fillers. Nerve blocks are ideal when a single nerve innervates the region of anesthesia. This chapter aims to highlights the advantages of nerve blocks, disadvantages of nerve blocks, contraindications to nerve blocks in general, indications, anesthetic agents, preparation of nerve blocks in dermatosurgery. A detailed discussion on the facial nerve blocks, nerve blocks for hair transplantation and digital blocks has been provided in this chapter.
