Abstract

This chapter deals with a summary of approach to management of post-acne scars. The management techniques of post-acne scars have greatly improved with introduction of new treatments such as fractional lasers. It is now possible to manage even severe scars, with far better results than ever possible before, with minimal side effects and healing time. Added to this, early management with isotretinoin has resulted in better medical management for prevention of scars. It is important to understand that the management of acne scars is time-consuming and any improvement seen occurs gradually. A combination of medical and surgical approaches is needed, with frequent visits to the clinic, over several months. This chapter also gives an overview on pretreatment considerations, and isotretinoin and acne scar management. A detailed discussion on the newer technologies in acne scar management has been provided in this chapter.
