Abstract

Cornea-sclera, choroid-iris, and retina are three layers of globe of the eye. Cornea is transparent structure continuation of the conjunctiva over the cornea present in the anterior part of the eyeball. Choroid is the vascular membrane in contact with the sclera. Iris: Is the continuation of the choroid, which extends in front of the lens. Retina is part of the central nervous system and is composed of a number of layers of cells and their synapses. The central fovea is a specially differentiated region in the retina posteriorly. The eyelid is covered by skin on external aspect and mucosa (the conjunctiva) on the internal surface apposed to the eye. It covers and protects the eye. A detailed discussion on orbit, conjunctiva, sclera, cornea, anterior segment, uvea, retina and vitreous, and optic nerve has been provided in this chapter.
