Abstract

The objective of this chapter is to introduce the imaging. Imaging has become an integral part of clinical medicine. A variety of imaging methods are screening, conventional and digital radiology (most commonly used modality), contrast studies, tomography, ultrasound (US), computed tomography (CT) scan, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), positron emission tomography (PET) scan. Many factors decide the choice, the most important factor being the nature of the clinical problem and its urgency. In our setups, cost considerations are important. This chapter covers the imaging modality of respiratory system, cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal tract, musculoskeletal system, neurology, hematology, endocrinology and metabolism, genitourinary tract, other imaging modalities, and spot images for practice. Chest X-ray is the first imaging modality ordered in respiratory disorders. A chest X-ray visualizes heart, lung parenchyma, pulmonary vessels, trachea, bronchial tree, pleura, mediastinum, hilum, diaphragm, and chest wall.
