The eyes are small compared with most of the body\'s other organs, but their structure is incredibly complex. Cornea is thick transparent, nonvascular structure of eye. Cornea has five layers such as epithelium stratified squamous nonkeratinized, anterior limiting membrane or Bowman’s membrane (Collagen fibers), corneal stroma (substantia propria), collagen fibers and fibroblasts, posterior limiting membrane or Descemet’s membrane (Collagen fibers), and posterior epithelium simple squamous or cuboidal. Retina is the innermost coat of eyeball. Ten layers of retina are pigment cell epithelium, layer of rods and cones, outer limiting membrane, outer nuclear layer, outer plexiform layer, inner nuclear layer, inner plexiform layer, layer of ganglion cells, layer of optic nerve fibers, and inner limiting membrane. Clinical images are also provided in the chapter.
