The study of the structure and morphological characteristics of the tissues and organs of the body which are related to surgery is defined as surgical anatomy. This textbook “Surgical Anatomy: A Student’s Manual” divided into eleven chapters which comprises short notes, surface anatomy, and radiology are represented by simple diagram. NIIT, PG and UG, and DNB exam with explanatory notes are also given in this chapter. First chapter covers a brief discussion on general anatomy of bones and cartilages, joint, muscular system, nervous system, atrial system, veins, and lymphatic system. Superior extremity and inferior extremity are discussed in second and third chapter. Surgical anatomy of abdomen, thorax, and head, neck and brain are covered in fourth to sixth chapters. Seventh chapter focuses on microscopic structure of tissues. Genetics is the study of heredity, a process by which children inherit certain character (traits) from family and from their parents. A detailed description on the genetics has been covered in eighth chapter. Ninth chapter focuses on embryology. Tenth chapter aims to familiarize the readers with the study of structures of body by means of radiograph. Last chapter of this book aims to cover some short notes on important surgical anatomy for the postgraduate students.
