Abstract

This chapter focuses on practical summary of history taking and physical examination methods. There are two types of examinations; general and special. The general examination deals with some or almost all the organs or the systems, while special examination is exclusively to the affected organ or system, e.g. it could be an eye or abdomen, or liver and so on. There are different types of format for general and systematic examination of physical examinations. Presently, in electronic health records, there are special screens (formats) required information has to be completed either manually or electronically. Physical examination, medical examination or clinical examination or more popularly known as a medical check-up, is the process by which a medical professional investigates the body of a patient for signs and symptoms of disease.
