The objective of this chapter is to introduce the antiamebics. Antiamebics is a type of antiprotozoal agent that particularly destroys or suppresses the growth of ameba. This chapter covers the metronidazole, ornidazole, and tinidazole along with their indication, dose, contraindication, precaution, adverse effect, and drug interaction. Abscess, anaerobic, amebic dysentery, bacterial vaginosis, and giardiasis are the indications of metronidazole. Bacterial vaginosis, anaerobic bacterial infection, prophylaxis of postoperative bacterial infection are the indications of tinidazole.
