Hormones are chemical messengers that are secreted directly into the blood, which carries them to organs and tissues of the body to exert their functions. This chapter covers the levothyroxine sodium, carbimazole, estrogens, misoprostol, medroxyprogesterone, norethisterone, human chorionic gonadotropin, human menopausal gonadotropin, tibolone, risedronate sodium, alendronate sodium, cyproterone, follicle-stimulating hormone, clomifene, testosterone, progesterone, nandrolone, and desogestrel along with their indication, dose, contraindication, precaution, adverse effect, and drug interaction. Hyperthyroidism, adjunct to radioiodine therapy, Grave’s disease, and preparation for thyroidectomy are the indications of carbimazole. Moderate-to-severe vasomotor symptoms associated with menopause, vulvular and vaginal atrophy, female hypogonadism, and female castration/ primary ovarian failure are the indications of estrogens.
