Abstract

The objective of this chapter is to introduce the antibiotics. Antibiotics are used to treat or prevent some types of bacterial infection. They work by killing bacteria or preventing them from reproducing and spreading. Amikacin, amoxicillin, ampicillin, azithromycin, cefadroxil, cefdinir, cefepime, cefixime, cefoperazone, cefotaxime, cefpodoxime, ceftazidime, ceftriaxone, cefuroxime, cephalexin, chloramphenicol, ciprofloxacin, clarithromycin, cloxacillin, doxycycline, gentamycin, levofloxacin, norfloxacin, ofloxacin, vancomycin, tobramycin, linezolid, meropenem, tigecycline, rifaximin, teicoplanin, pazufloxacin, netilmicin, piperacillin, and tazobactam are the antibiotics drugs described in this chapter along with their indication, dose, contraindication, precaution, adverse effect, and drug interaction.
