This chapter talks about sample collection. This chapter covers the blood sample collection, sputum sample collection, stool specimen collection, and urine sample collection. Sputum is thick mucus coughed up from the lungs and advice patient not to spit saliva. Early morning is a best time for collection. Stool is collected and tested for blood, pathogens and/or parasites (worms, amoebas). Use a bedpan or bedside commode for collection. Nurse has to label the container before collection of urine sample.
