The objective of this chapter is to introduce the types of hospital beds. Types of beds classified as general and based on patient needs. General classifications of general beds are standard bed, manual bed, hydraulic bed, and electric beds. Classifications of hospital beds based on patient needs are closed (unoccupied) bed, admission bed (open) bed, occupied bed, postoperative bed, fracture bed, plaster bed, amputation or stump bed, cardiac bed, and blanket (rheumatism or renal) bed described in the table format.
