Chest physiotherapy is the technique to mobilize or loosen thick and tenacious secretions in lungs. Indications and contraindications of chest physiotherapy, assessment before chest physiotherapy, techniques in chest physiotherapy, and positions used in chest physiotherapy are covered in this chapter. Indications of chest physiotherapy are pneumonia, lung abscess, bronchiectasis, atelectasis, lung abscess, cystic fibrosis, and neuromuscular diseases. Contraindications of chest physiotherapy are head or neck or spine injury, rib fracture or flail chest, abdominal aneurysm resection, osteoporosis, raised intracranial pressure, and hemoptysis.
