Abstract

Sclerotherapy is a form of chemical ablation where, a sclerosing solution is injected into an abnormal vessel. Sclerotherapy causes endothelial destruction, resulting in inflammation and then collapse, and shut down of the vascular structure. The cornerstone of treatment for varicose veins and other vascular and lymphatic malformations is correctly applied compression therapy following the sclerotherapy. This chapter describes compression therapy, types of compression after sclerotherapy, and time of application of compression bandage. Compression therapy appears scientific in preventing complications.
