Abstract

The chapter explains about blepharoplasty, which is one of the most commonly performed facial surgeries. Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure for reconstruction of the eyelids for functional or cosmetic indications. Usual indications for upper eyelid blepharoplasty are dermatochalasis (loose upper eyelid skin in an older patient) and blepharochalasis (overhanging skin in younger patient). Double eyelid blepharoplasty or Asian blepharoplasty is the commonest upper eyelid blepharoplasty requested in Asia. For practical purposes, the upper and lower eyelid layers may be divided into the anterior, middle and posterior lamellae. Procedural steps and points for consideration of upper eyelid blepharoplasty, double eyelid surgery or Asian blepharoplasty and lower eyelid blepharoplasty are stated.
